MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511132520 A) filed by Chandigarh University, Mohali, Punjab, on Dec. 27, 2025, for 'an instrumented food container system for real-time portion analysis and microbiome-personalized nutrient and caloric estimation.'

Inventor(s) include Saptak Sarkar; and Dr. Swaati Sharma.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an instrumented food container system integrating precise load sensing, secure electronics housing, and controlled communication capabilities for real-time dietary monitoring and data processing. The system comprises a food-contact vessel with a removable insert (101), a load-cell assembly (102) for accurate weight measurement, and a sealed electronics compartment (103) housing a microprocessor (104), power supply (105), and communication modules (106). An electromagnetic shielding enclosure (107) protects internal electronics from external interference, while an onboard memory unit (108) ensures reliable storage of measurement data and operational parameters. A hardware RF-disable switch (109) provides a tamper-resistant mechanism for physically disabling all wireless communication when required for privacy, regulatory compliance, or interference prevention. The invention provides a hygienic, durable, and highly accurate smart vessel solution capable of integrating with digital health platforms, supporting nutritional analysis, and operating reliably in environments with strict electromagnetic and data-security constraints."
