MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521103586 A) filed by Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute Of Technology, Surat, Gujarat, on Oct. 28, 2025, for 'an industrial process for the preparation of 1-acetyl 4-(4- hydroxyphenyl) piperazine.'

Inventor(s) include Mendapara Jigarkumar Vallabhbhai; Vaghasiya Mahesh Dungarshibhai; and Premlata Kumari.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a chemical synthesis process for industrial production of 1-Acetyl-4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)piperazine (AHPP). The process involves charging a reaction vessel (100) with a reaction medium of isopropyl alcohol, 4-aminophenol, Bis(2-Chloroethyl)amine Hydrochloride, and soda ash, followed by heating to about 82 C while stirring with a mechanical stirrer (102) under a reflux condenser (104) to effect cyclization and form a cyclic piperazine intermediate. The reaction is then cooled to about 5 C, enabling the dropwise addition of acetyl chloride via a reagent addition system (106) in the presence of additional soda ash, thereby acetylating the intermediate. Subsequent purification comprises filtration, solvent recovery, acetone washing, and drying."
