MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511131763 A) filed by IIMT College of Pharmacy, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Dec. 25, 2025, for 'an improved agarbathi composition for minimizing health risks associated with smoke emissions.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An improved agarbathi manufacturing system (100) is disclosed, comprising a binder-storage and mixing container (102) for guar gum, plant starches, and natural powders; a combustion-modifier blending unit (104) configured to incorporate eco-friendly additives; a paste-forming and shaping module (106) for producing incense sticks; and a drying and finishing module (108) for stabilizing the final product. A corresponding method (200) includes preparing a low-emission binder mixture (202), forming and shaping the agarbathi paste into sticks (204), and drying and finishing the product (206). The invention reduces particulate matter, VOCs, CO, and PAH emissions through the integration of natural binders, herbal additives such as neem and tulsi, and activated charcoal, enabling safer indoor use."
