MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621005580 A) filed by Ve Commercial Vehicles Ltd., Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, on Jan. 20, for 'an expandable gripper for a work changer device.'

Inventor(s) include Rajan Kumar Mudaliar; and Manish Sethia.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An expandable gripper (100) for a work changer device (102) is disclosed. The expandable gripper (100) comprises a plurality of barrels (104) mounted to the work changer device (102), each barrel being configured for insertion into a corresponding piston bore of a cylinder block (108). The expandable gripper (100) further comprises at least two sets of plungers (106) operatively disposed within each barrel. Further, plungers of each set are angularly spaced apart at a predefined angle about a longitudinal axis of each barrel. Further, each set of plungers is configured to radially expand outwardly to engage inner walls of the corresponding piston bore, such that the at least two sets of plungers (106) collectively provide at least six-point uniform gripping engagement to securely hold and transfer the cylinder block (108)."
