MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521113597 A) filed by Symbiosis International, Pune, Maharashtra, on Nov. 18, 2025, for 'an ergonomic kitchen knife.'

Inventor(s) include Siddharth Sahasrabudhe; and Tanmayee Puntambekar.

The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an ergonomic kitchen knife (100) comprising a handle body (102) and a blade portion (104). The handle body (102) features a contoured ergonomic structure with a widened midsection for palm support, finger recesses for improved grip, and a thumb rest for controlled handling. The rear end of the handle body (102) is slightly flared to prevent slippage and enhance stability. The blade portion (104) extends downwardly from the handle body (102) at an ergonomic angle that aligns with the user's wrist for natural cutting motion. The handle surface includes a textured or elastomeric finish to provide non-slip comfort during prolonged use. The configuration ensures balanced weight distribution, reduced wrist strain, and improved precision, offering enhanced comfort, safety, and performance for both domestic and professional kitchen applications."
