MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621008525 A) filed by Mit Art, Design And Technology University, Pune, Maharashtra, on Jan. 28, for 'an ergonomic device for controlled single-drop eye drop administration.'

Inventor(s) include Anushka Thete; Stuti Kinariwala; Siddhesh Nighot; Shoubhik Dutta Roy; and Bhavin Vamanrao Mali.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to an ergonomic eye drop dispensing apparatus designed for standard eye drop bottles. The apparatus includes a housing (1) aligned along a vertical axis (Axis A) featuring an inner bottle-receiving cavity and an outer surface (8) with an indentation (3) that comprises a grip depression (3.1) and multiple press points (3.2). Two opposing flaps (2) extend outward and are movable inward toward Axis A, with their displacement limited by a mechanical stop within the housing (1). A shoulder-locking clamp (4) concentric about Axis A and defined by portions (4.1) and (4.2) facilitates secure bottle engagement, while a forward-extending support member (7) with a mounted nose cushion (6) provides integrated nose-bridge support. This all-in-one, single-piece molded structure offers enhanced usability and precise dispensing functionality."
