MUMBAI, India, June 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202341087424 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 20, 2023, for 'an energy chain for a sliding door of a vehicle.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An energy chain (100) for a sliding door of a vehicle is disclosed. The energy chain (100) includes a housing (110), a roller attachment (120), and a plurality of links (140). The housing (110) is configured to carry a portion of wiring harness of the vehicle to actuate the sliding door between an open state and a closed state. The roller attachment is secured on a portion of a body frame of the vehicle. The roller attachment is configured to facilitate sliding of the sliding door. The plurality of links includes a first pivotal link (140a) and a second series of links (140b). The first pivotal link (140a) interconnects the roller attachment to the second series of links (140b). The first pivotal link (140a) is made of a metallic element. The energy chain (100) disclosed provides high strength to the energy chain and keep the energy chain (100) lightweight."
