MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541092564 A) filed by Karunya Institute Of Technology And Sciences, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on Sept. 26, 2025, for 'an electromagnetically actuated heat pipe assembly for space thermal control applications.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. A. Brusly Solomon; Titus A; Dr. Madhu Ganesh; and R. Jayaseelan.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an electromagnetically actuated heat pipe assembly for space thermal control applications, comprising a grooved heat pipe (1) with a solenoid coil (2); an evaporator (3); a condenser (4); a piston (5); a nozzle (6) with two arms (6a and 6b); a thermocouple wire (7); and an inlet and outlet coolant port (10a and 10b). Inner wall of the heat pipe (1) is provided with axial micro-grooves (1a). The nozzle (6) and piston (5) arrangement are placed inside the grooved heat pipe (1) at the end of an adiabatic section. The solenoid coil (2) is positioned around the adiabatic section of the heat pipe (1) outside the nozzle (6) and piston (5) arrangement. The thermocouple wire (7) is placed on the evaporator (3) surface of the heat pipe (1) and is attached to an Arduino UNO (8) and a DC power supply (9)."
