MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641007206 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Jan. 24, for 'an electric fan employing piezoelectric vibration for automatic self-cleaning of fan blades.'

Inventor(s) include Daisy Gohain; and Emir Husain.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An electric fan 100 for auto-cleaning of fan blades 104 includes a rotating blade assembly includes two or more blades 104; a piezoelectric transducer 202 mechanically coupled at root of blade assembly; and a controller 204 including a driver IC and power transfer interface. The controller 204 is programmed for multi-mode bursts combining a low-frequency flexural pulse followed by ultrasonic bursts of predefined time of burst and frequency to dislodge both coarse and fine dust particulates from each blade 104 to clean the blades 104. The fan 100 allow remote configuration for scheduled cleaning via cloud scheduler, firmware updates, and status reporting."
