MUMBAI, India, Aug. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411009987 A) filed by Council Of Scientific And Industrial Research, New Delhi, on Feb. 13, 2024, for 'an efficient self-conveying plasma treatment device for disinfecting flowable objects.'
Inventor(s) include Umapathi Balaji; Dutta Soumya Prakash; Mukerjee Monami; Pandey Sony; Kumar Manish; Ramalingam Sathish; Kamatchi Jothiramalingam; and Venkataseetharaman.
The application for the patent was published on Aug. 22, under issue no. 34/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides a device that allows for an arrangement for generating cold plasma using a high voltage power supply in a reactor tube which allows continuous plasma treatment of flowable objects by way of self-conveying into and out of the plasma zone. This method of treatment allows continuous disinfection, enabling seamless and hassle-free seed processing. The reactor processes the seeds by continuously directing the cold plasma on the surface of the seeds for an effective amount of time without leaving any dead zone. Cold Plasma is generated on the principles of Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) at atmospheric temperature and pressure."
