MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311087074 A) filed by Shoolini University Of Biotechnology And Management Sciences, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, on Dec. 20, 2023, for 'an effective n-doped multifunctional biochar-based nanocomposite.'
Inventor(s) include Pankaj Raizada; Vatika Soni; and Pardeep Singh.
The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses the synthesis of a of N-doped multifunctional biochar-based nanocomposite i.e., O-ZnO-Cu2O-NCDB of formula I for wastewater treatment and effective photodegradation of Cr(VI) and DCHCl (doxycycline hydrochloride). The photocatalyst exhibited a degradation efficiency of up to 88.9% and 92.9%. The incorporation of nanocellulose, O-ZnO, Cu2O, and NCDB is taken in the preparation of the nanocomposite in a ratio of 1:1:1. This approach is known for its low cost, non-toxicity, recyclability, and economic sustainability."
