MUMBAI, India, March 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441069198 A) filed by Sugarcan Innovations Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, Karnataka, on Sept. 12, 2024, for 'an edible polymer composition and a process of preparation thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an edible polymer composition. More particularly, the present inventions provides an edible polymer composition comprising: sorbitol, multi-carboxylic acid, soluble cellulose, and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) either alone or in combination, and optionally functional molecules. The edible polymer of the invention is soluble in water and reduces bioavailability of the free sugar molecules present in beverages and foods."
