MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641048963 A) filed by Nitte, Mangaluru, Karnataka, on April 17, for 'an edible pediatric oral care composition and method of preparation thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed herein is an edible paediatric oral care composition (100) in an orally dissolving dosage form comprising at least two sweetening agents (102) to provide sweetness and impart anti-cariogenic activity, a polyol excipient (104 to form a bulk base and maintain structural integrity of the composition (100), a herbal extract (106) to provide antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activity, at least two microbial strains (108) to promote beneficial oral microbiota and regulate oral pH balance, a natural binder (110) to facilitate binding of components, provide mechanical strength and enhance mucoadhesion, a lubricant (112) to reduce friction and facilitate compression of the composition (100), an anti-caking agent (114) to prevent agglomeration of components and maintain free-flowing properties, a stabilizing agent (116) to provide antioxidant activity and improve stability of the composition (100) and a flavoring agent (118) to enhance taste and improve palatability of the composition (100)."
