MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611053213 A) filed by Noida Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on April 27, for 'an edible biopolymer coating for extended food preservation.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Dolly Sharma; and Dr. Arvind Kumar.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An edible biopolymer coating system for extended food preservation is disclosed. The system includes a hydration vessel for forming an aqueous polysaccharide base, a protein integration chamber for generating a composite matrix, a plasticizer dosing module, a lipid dispersion unit, an active agent feeder, a homogenization section, an application station, and a drying interface. The resulting edible membrane adheres to a food surface, moderates moisture and gas transfer, retains preservation-active constituents, and prolongs storage stability of perishable food articles."
