MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122999 A) filed by Anarikat Narayanan Sham Mon; and Maneparambil Kumaran Vimala, Ernakulam, Kerala, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'an eco-friendly multiple use gauze and recycled paper shopping bag and its method of manufacture thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Anarikat Narayanan Sham Mon; and Maneparambil Kumaran Vimala.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides an eco-friendly shopping bag (100) comprising a composite material layer that integrates a recycled printing paper layer-printed via a roll-to-roll CI flexographic system-and a gauze fabric layer. These layers are adhesively bonded using a nanotechnology-enhanced corn starch solution (approximately 75% corn starch powder and 25% boiled water, with nano-scale bonding agents) to achieve a molecular interlock between fibers. The invention further incorporates decorative graphics within the printed layer and features a handle (formed from or reinforced with gauze fabric) stitched using automatic stitching with automated sewing machine to the composite, as well as a bottom section. Moreover, a controlled water vapor treatment and an integrated manufacturing process ensure enhanced interfacial adhesion and consistent bag formation."
