MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541124617 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 9, 2025, for 'an autonomous robotic system for performing agricultural processes.'

Inventor(s) include Soutik Mandal; Rachana Datta; Pranav Prabhu; and Krishna Kumba.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Embodiments relate to an autonomous robotic system (100) for performing agricultural processes comprising a control module (180) in communication with an all-terrain chassis (110), a retractable ploughing and ridging mechanism (120), a seeding and planting module (130), a dual-tank irrigation and pesticide spraying module (140), a crop and soil monitoring module (150) and at least one robotic arm (160) and an energy management module (170). The control module (180) can: navigate, the autonomous robotic system (100) through the agricultural field; perform, tilling of soil or forming ridges; optimize, seed placement, seed planting depth, and seed spacing between the each planted seed; perform, precise chemical mixing and spraying of water and one or more fertilizers or pesticides; analyzing, real-time soil and environmental conditions; and perform, detection of one or more plant diseases, collecting plant samples, transplanting one or more seedlings, and harvesting one or more delicate crops."
