MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641001894 A) filed by Muthayammal Engineering College, Namakkal, Tamil Nadu, on Jan. 7, for 'an autonomous building climate and lighting control system based on real-time occupancy sensing and predictive user behavior modeling.'

Inventor(s) include S. R. Sridhar; Kalluri Avinash; Kanumuru Sai Harsha Vardhan; Kola Naveen; and Kommi Kushitha.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention reveals a self-governing facility of the clever control of building climate and lighting. The system operates based on the concept of the multi- modal sensor array that is used to detect human presence with great accuracy and this circumvents the shortcomings of the conventional motion sensors. A predictive behavior engine is a machine learning engine that occupancy prediction is performed based on patterns and can pre-condition rooms before their occupants arrive. The two-sided nature of real-time sensing and predictive model can be considered a guarantee of high efficiency in the energy consumption without sacrificing user comfort. The system is optimized to be used in both commercial and residential systems and can change according to personal preferences over time through an inbuilt feedback loop."
