MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411072933 A) filed by Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, Mohali, Punjab, on Sept. 26, 2024, for 'an automatic hood lifting system for a vehicle.'

Inventor(s) include Muneet Sharma; Sukhninder Singh Sidhu; and Aikum Bhullar.

The application for the patent was published on April 10, under issue no. 15/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The embodiments herein relate to a system (100) for lifting a hood (12) of a vehicle (V). The system (100) includes a switch (102), a relay (103), an alternator (104), an ignition switch (105), an actuator (106), a latch member (108), and a lifting member (110). The operation of switch (102) facilitates transmitting of an electrical energy to the actuator (106) through the relay (103), when ignition switch (105) of the vehicle (V) is in ON position and alternator (104) is in engine OFF condition. The energized actuator (106) moves the latch member (108) for unlocking a hood latch (14) thereby unlocking the vehicle hood (12). The lifting member (110) lifts the hood (12) from a closed position (P2) to an open position (P1) upon unlocking the hood (12). The system (100) enhances safety of operator and enables easy opening of hood (12)."
