MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641017065 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 16, for 'an automated system and method for grooming pets.'

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The disclosed system (100) includes an archway (102) adapted to allow the pets to transverse therethrough. The system (100) includes at least one grooming mechanism (104) disposed along opposing sides of the archway (102). The grooming mechanism is (104) configured to dislodge loose hair during transit from the archway (102). The system (100) includes an electrostatic hair capture unit (108) integrated with the archway (102). The electrostatic hair capture unit (108) includes at least one electrostatic charge generator (110) which generates electrostatic charge to attract and dislodge hair. A hair collection mechanism (112) is positioned downstream of the archway (102), and includes at least one rotating collection drum (114) to receive, using a vacuum assisted intake, and retain hair dislodged by the at least one grooming mechanism (104) and captured by the electrostatic hair capture unit (108)."
