MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521033409 A) filed by Upjao Agrotech Private Limited, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on April 4, 2025, for 'an automated grain quality assessment system and method thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Pramod Swain; Mohini Mohan Behera; Harsha Bhadra; Abhishek Kumar; Shreyas Pravinchandra Mehta; Shridhar Pravinchandra Mehta; Ritu Mishra; and Pranav Kumar Asthana.

The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An automated grain quality assessment system (100) includes a grain feeder unit (200) with a hopper (210) and controlled dispensing mechanism (220) for receiving and dispensing grain samples into sub-sample portions. A grain spreading and transport unit (300) distributes grains evenly across a transparent imaging surface (410) using crop-specific grain spreading parameters. An image acquisition unit (400) with at least one imaging device and an illumination system captures images of distributed grains. Real-time sensors (510) monitor grain distribution and provide feedback. An AI processing unit (500) comprising a processor (502), memory (504), a sensor data processing module (512), a workflow optimization module (514), an image analysis module (516), and a calibration module (518) manages operations, processes sensor data, adjusts grain spreading parameters, controls image capture, and performs AI-based quality analysis using trained machine learning models. An extraction unit (600) with a collection tray (620) removes analyzed sub-samples after image capture."
