MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541044248 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on May 7, 2025, for 'an automated coating apparatus.'
Inventor(s) include Sandeep Kumar; Aswin Beckham Nirmal; and Tiju Thomas.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to an automated coating apparatus (100) for precision thin-film coating on substrates used in electrochemical energy storage devices such as lithium-ion batteries and supercapacitors. The apparatus (100) includes a frame (101) supporting a first blade (104) and a second blade (102), a fluid reservoir (110) for storing and supplying coating material, and a partition member (106) slidably disposed within the fluid reservoir (110) to create two or more compartments (111a, 111b) for multi-row coating. A plurality of adjustment members (115) enables precise displacement of the second blade (102), while an actuation unit (114) regulates movement of the first blade (104) and the second blade (102) for accurate control of coating thickness. Automated actuation with real-time calibration ensures uniform coatings, minimizes material wastage, and supports simultaneous multi-row deposition."
