MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621021649 A) filed by Dr. Vishwanath Karad Mit World Peace University, Pune, Maharashtra, on Feb. 24, for 'an apparatus for reproducible traumatic brain injury studies and thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Shvetank Bhatt; Vaishnavi G. Thorat; and Ruchi Keswani.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to an apparatus (100) for traumatic brain injury induction. The apparatus (100) comprises a guide tube (102) configured to guide an impact weight along a linear free-fall path toward a cranial target region of a laboratory animal. An alignment unit (106) comprising a laser source is configured to project a laser beam along the free-fall path to identify the cranial target region. An impact interface (104) comprising a metallic disc is positionable on the skull at the identified region to receive impact force. The guide tube (102) is supported by a stand (110) to maintain vertical alignment. A cushioning base (108) is positioned beneath the laboratory animal along the free-fall path to absorb residual impact forces following descent of the impact weight."
