MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631009906 A) filed by Roha Precision Systems Development Llp, Durgapur, West Bengal, on Jan. 30, for 'an apparatus for preparing faecal samples for microscopic examination, and a method thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides an apparatus (100) for preparing faecal samples for microscopic examination, and a method (900) thereof. The apparatus (100) comprises a sample holder (102) configured to receive a faecal sample, an ultrasonic vibration generator coupled to the sample holder (102), and a motor (106) configured to rotate the sample holder (102) to enable centrifugal separation of the faecal sample. The apparatus (100) comprises at least two sieve filters (616) arranged within the sample holder (102) to retain objects of interest during the centrifugal separation, and a viewing region (618) in the sample holder (102) configured to be imaged by a microscope. The apparatus (100) is configured to prepare and image the faecal sample within the same sample holder (102) without requiring transfer of the faecal sample to another vessel. The ultrasonic vibration generator comprises one or more piezo-ceramic actuators (108) mounted on a rotatable shaft (104)."
