MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541123961 A) filed by National Engineering College - New Generation Innovation And Entrepreneurship Development Centre, Kovilpatti, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 9, 2025, for 'an apparatus for monitoring soil nutrients.'

Said apparatus broadly comprises: an at least a power supply member (1); a NPK sensing member (2a); a soil moisture sensing member (2b); a temperature and humidity sensing member (2c); a soil temperature sensing member (2d); an at least a marshalling member (3); an at least an analytical module (3a); and an at least an output (4). The disclosed apparatus offers at least the following advantages: is cost-effective; eliminates image capturing techniques; lower energy consumption; minimised data transmission to the cloud, thereby lowering bandwidth requirements; improved efficiency in remote data handling; is compact; facilitating easy installation; minimising space requirements; making it suitable for indoor plantation systems such as aquaponics and hydroponics; and real-time monitoring."
