MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621007805 A) filed by Mr. Anant M. Ghongade; and Dr. Shruti T. Barot, Vadodara, Gujarat, on Jan. 27, for 'an amorphous solid dispersion-based pharmaceutical compositions of nebivolol or its salts thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising an amorphous solid dispersion of Nebivolol or its pharmaceutically acceptable salts for improving solubility and dissolution characteristics. The amorphous solid dispersion is prepared by hot-melt extrusion using one or more polymeric carriers, optionally in the presence of surfactants and pharmaceutically acceptable excipients. The resulting formulation exhibits enhanced dissolution rate, improved flow properties, and uniform drug content. The invention further provides oral solid dosage forms such as tablets or capsules comprising the amorphous solid dispersion, suitable for scalable industrial manufacture and improved oral bioavailability of Nebivolol."
