MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621025166 A) filed by Ms. Nensi Raytthatha; and Dr. Jigar Vyas, Vadodara, Gujarat, on March 3, for 'an amorphous aripiprazole solid dispersion composition and process thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention provides a pharmaceutical capsule formulation overcoming the poor aqueous solubility and limited oral bioavailability of crystalline aripiprazole. The composition comprises a physically stable amorphous solid dispersion of aripiprazole and Soluplus in a 1:2.5 weight ratio, prepared via a solvent-free hot-melt extrusion process at 140 C and a screw speed of 100 RPM. The extrudate is milled and blended with 0.5% to 5% w/w piperine as a bioavailability enhancer. Soluplus stabilizes the amorphous state and enhances dissolution, while piperine improves intestinal absorption and prevents metabolic loss. The combined use of Soluplus and piperine provides a synergistic enhancement in the systemic plasma concentration of aripiprazole compared to conventional dosage forms. The final blend is filled into hard gelatin or HPMC capsules for effective oral delivery."
