MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541113654 A) filed by Psna College Of Engineering And Technology, Dindigul, Tamil Nadu, on Nov. 19, 2025, for 'an aiot based vehicle gas emission detection and reporting system.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. T. Hemalatha; Karthick Ganesh M; Sharugesan R; Balaguru G; Edwin Joel P; Nithya R; and Abirami R.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Vehicular emissions pose a major threat to environmental and public health. This invention introduces an intelligent AloT-based system that utilizes MQ7 and MQ135 sensors to detect harmful gases such as carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (C02) emitted from vehicles. The emission data is displayed on an OLED screen at the driver's console and simultaneously transmitted to a secure web interface. All emission records are stored in the VPCAI (Vehicle Pollution Control Authority oflndia) central server for real-time monitoring, analysis, and regulatory tracking. When emissions exceed legal limits, the system automatically alerts vehicle owners and relevant authorities, recommending servicing or Fitness Certificate (FC) renewal. Persistent violations are reported to the Regional Transport Office (RTO), particularly for heavy motor vehicles during FC inspections. This system promotes transparency, strengthens regulatory enforcement, and contributes to proactive environmental protection by enabling data-driven pollution control management."
