MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511127203 A) filed by Graphic Era Deemed To Be University; and Graphic Era Hill University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on Dec. 15, 2025, for 'an advanced buccal film formulation for rapid medication uptake.'
Inventor(s) include Nishant Rai; and Nardev Singh.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An advanced buccal film formulation for rapid medication uptake is disclosed. The system comprises a thin drug-loaded buccal film strip (101) having a multi-layer polymer matrix (102) integrating a permeation-enhancing and pH-modifying system (103), a saliva-activated disintegration and diffusion domain (104), and a mucoadhesive anchoring interface (105). Upon placement on buccal mucosa, the film rapidly hydrates, adheres, and disintegrates, generating a concentrated drug layer that permeates into submucosal blood vessels to provide rapid systemic uptake (106) while bypassing gastrointestinal transit and first-pass hepatic metabolism."
