MUMBAI, India, Sept. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441012515 A) filed by JAIN, Bangalore, Karnataka, on Feb. 21, 2024, for 'an adaptable riveting assistive device.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Gnanaprakasam Thangavel.
The application for the patent was published on Sept. 5, under issue no. 36/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An adaptable riveting assistive device, comprising a platform 1 positioned on fixed surface, a slot 2 mapped on platform 1 accommodating a pair of metallic sheets to be riveted, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 3 arranged on platform 1 to determine dimensions of metallic sheets, a pair of motorized sliding units 4 positioned on platform 1 on lateral ends of slots 2 for displacing a pair of vertical plates 5 attached with motorized sliding units 4 towards metallic sheets, a motorized slider 6 coupled with a pair of flaps 7 mapped on vertical plates 5 for translation of flaps 7 on periphery of plates 5, an extendable protrusion 8 connected on one flap 7 to apply pressure at certain determined points following activation of heating element for melting and fusing part of metal sheets in cavity of other flap 7 to make rivet joints."
