MUMBAI, India, June 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202321088623 A) filed by Clothing Innovations Pvt. Ltd., Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on Dec. 25, 2023, for 'algorithmic mixing of microencapsulated insecticide for long-lasting repellent clothing in washing machines.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention presents a novel washing machine solution designed to impart durable insect repellency to clothing, using advanced microencapsulation technology. The solution utilizes melamine-formaldehyde (MF) coacervation for the sustained release of key ingredients: DEET, permethrin, IR3535, and citronella oil. This innovative approach ensures long-lasting protection against a wide range of insects, including mosquitoes, ticks, flies, and lice, etc,. which are known vectors of various diseases. An algorithmic mixing procedure is employed to guarantee uniform distribution of microcapsules within the washing machine, optimizing the solution's effectiveness. Remarkably, the treated clothing retains its insect repellent properties for up to 30 regular washes in cold water, making it a practical solution for outdoor activities and travel. This cost-effective, eco-friendly solution marks a significant advancement in insect repellent technologies, combining efficiency, convenience, and durability."
