MUMBAI, India, Sept. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202527077781 A) filed by Nippon Light Metal Company, Ltd; and Nikkei Mc Aluminium Co. Ltd., Tokyo, on Aug. 14, for 'al-si alloy for casting, al-si alloy casting and method for producing al-si alloy casting.'

Inventor(s) include Inoue Ryosuke; Isobe Tomohiro; and Horikawa Hiroshi.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 5, under issue no. 36/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides: an Al-Si alloy casting which exhibits excellent mechanical joining properties of rivets or the like, and has excellent impact resistance; a production method for obtaining said Al-Si alloy casting; and an Al-Si alloy for casting. An Al-Si alloy for casting according to the present invention is characterized in that the Ti content is no more than 0.05 mass%. The Al-Si alloy for casting preferably has an Si content of 5.0-12.0 mass%, and preferably has an Mn content of 0.4-1.5 mass%, an Mg content of 0.05-0.6 mass%, a Cr content of 0.1-0.5 mass%, and an Fe content greater than 0 and no greater than 0.6 mass%, with the remainder comprising Al and inevitable impurities."

The patent application was internationally filed on Feb. 22, 2024, under International application No.PCT/JP2024/006452.
