MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541133564 A) filed by Dr. Mahalingam College Of Engineering And Technology, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 30, 2025, for 'air cooled solar pv roofing system.'

Inventor(s) include M. Prabhu Raj; Dr. L. Chitra; and M. Saravanakumar.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This utility model describes an air-cooling system designed for photovoltaic (PV) arrays integrated with building roofs. Standard roof-integrated PV arrays experience temperature rises that negatively impact photoelectric conversion efficiency. To address this, this system utilizes a waterproof corrugated tile layer placed over the roof insulation. A bracket system, secured to the roof structure, supports the PV array above these tiles. This configuration creates a sealed space between the PV array and the corrugated tile, functioning as a dedicated air duct. Although the front and rear of the duct are sealed, a vent outlet creates airflow. This increases the efficiency of solar energy production from PV by enabling the roofto cool, lowering overall energy consumption, and recovering some waste heat."
