MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511102876 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Oct. 25, 2025, for 'ai powered smartphone system for real time milk authenticity and purity testing using imaging.'

Inventor(s) include Vishal Khanna; and Dr. Anuj Sharma.

The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a portable AI-powered system (100) for rapid testing of milk authenticity and purity using smartphone imaging and spectral sensors (102, 104). A milk sample is captured via a portable cuvette or direct scanning interface. Visual and spectral data are acquired and analyzed by an AI-based processing module (106) trained on datasets of genuine and adulterated milk to detect common adulterants such as water, starch, detergents, urea, and synthetic milk agents. The system (100) differentiates cow, buffalo, and goat milk species and presents results through a user interface (108) with confidence scores. Optionally, results are stored or uploaded to cloud or blockchain systems for traceable recordkeeping. This solution provides real-time, cost-effective, and user-friendly milk authenticity verification suitable for farmers, consumers, and regulatory authorities."
