MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541133969 A) filed by Dr. Mahalingam College Of Engineering And Technology, Pollachi, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 31, 2025, for 'ai-powered intelligent post-harvest seed sorting and packaging system for agriculture automation.'
Inventor(s) include S. Thilagavathi; R. Sudhakar; A. Arundharsaun; and Dr. V. Gurunahan.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Systems and methods proficient of doing post-harvest seed processing in agricultural fields with high moisture content are described. A few facets of the current disclosure offer realime monitoring of the seed processing system. The system comprises a harvesting module with Arduino microcontroller as a core element to directly cut the paddy crops in the field, a hreshing module to separate the grains from the crops and a precise drying module with moisture sensors to reduce the moisture level of the grains. AI -powered sorting unit utilizes he Raspberry Pi microcontroller, camera module, sieving machine, and a conveyor belt to 'ilter the low quality seeds using sieving ancl image-based seed assessment methods. Automatic seed packing is done with the deployment of an ESP32 microcontroller, various sensors and seed dispensing units. loT-assisted cloud based data storage and visualization is made with ESP32 microcontroller. The automated process of integrated harvesting, threshing, and precise drying followed by seed sorting and packaging lowered the reliance of manual abor, boosted the seed quality and shelflife, and improved the efficiency of the overall post- !harvesting particularly during the samba season."
