MUMBAI, India, Dec. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511102428 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Oct. 24, for 'ai-powered autonomous robotic drone system for maintenance of floating city infrastructure.'

Inventor(s) include Gagandeep Kaur; and Dr. Manik Rakhra.

The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention discloses an AI-powered autonomous robotic drone system (100) designed for underwater maintenance of floating city infrastructure. The system includes a corrosion-resistant body (102), multi-directional thrusters (104), a navigation and perception module (106), and a manipulation and cleaning module (108) employing eco-friendly ultrasonic or microbubble cleaning technologies. A repair module (110) performs autonomous sealant or patch applications. The AI control unit (112) coordinates inspection, cleaning, and repair operations individually or within a drone swarm network connected to a central monitoring hub (114). The system integrates predictive maintenance models for early detection of algae buildup, corrosion, and structural stress, optimizing repair schedules. The eco-friendly and fully autonomous design of system (100) ensures safe, sustainable, and cost-effective maintenance of submerged floating city bases while minimizing human involvement and preserving marine ecosystems."
