MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641063804 A) filed by Sri Krishna Adithya College Of Arts & Science, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on May 20, for 'ai-integrated portable embedded microscopy system for real-time microplastic detection in water.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Sreejith Vignesh B P; Loganathan S; Arshath Mohammed A; V. Bharath; Raihan Khanam M; Illakiya P; and J. Anushagar.

The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "AI-Integrated Portable Embedded Microscopy System for Real-Time Microplastic Detection in Water Abstract The present invention discloses an AI-integrated portable embedded microscopy system for real-time detection and quantification of microplastics in water samples. The system comprises a water sample input (10), an embedded microscope (12) with a camera module (14) configured to capture microscopic images, and an embedded processing unit (18) operatively connected to the microscope. The processing unit (18) executes an AI-based detection algorithm to identify, count, and estimate the size of microplastic particles. An adaptive self-learning module (20) is integrated to enhance detection accuracy over time through continuous learning. The processed data is displayed via a display and control interface (22) and stored in a data storage module (24) with optional synchronization to a cloud or remote database (26). The invention provides a portable, cost-effective, and automated solution for environmental monitoring, enabling real-time, accurate, and scalable analysis of microplastic contamination in diverse water bodies."
