MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541124273 A) filed by Vardhaman College Of Engineering, Ranga Reddy, Telangana, on Dec. 9, 2025, for 'ai-guided navigation system for visually impaired individuals using cv.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Mahesh Subburu; Prof. Husnabad Venkateswara; Dr. Vemula Harini; Dr. Chappidi Sreenivasa Rao; Dr. K Murugaperumal; and Mr. Nirmal Keshari Swain.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "AI-Guided Navigation System for Visually Impaired Individuals Using CV is the proposed invention This invention presents an AI-guided navigation system for visually impaired individuals, utilizing real-time computer vision and intelligent decision-making to enhance independent mobility. A wearable camera and auxiliary sensors continuously capture environmental data, which is processed using deep learning algorithms to detect obstacles, interpret safe walking paths, and recognize key indoor and outdoor landmarks. The system integrates GPS-based route planning for outdoor navigation and vision-based localization for reliable guidance in GPS-denied indoor environments. Context-aware reasoning dynamically prioritizes alerts and determines safe navigation actions. Assistive feedback is delivered to the user through intuitive voice guidance, spatial audio, and haptic vibration cues, ensuring timely hazard warnings without causing sensory overload."
