MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541126576 A) filed by Vardhaman College Of Engineering, Ranga Reddy, Telangana, on Dec. 14, 2025, for 'ai-guided composite material design for aerospace applications.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Thirupathi Thumma; Prof. Meerja Akhil Jabbar; Prof. J V R Ravindra; Dr. Arikatla Jaya Lakshmi; Dr. Sangeetha Singh; and Dr. B Praveen Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "AI-Guided Composite Material Design for Aerospace Applications is the proposed invention. The proposed invention provides a system and method for AI-guided composite material design tailored for aerospace applications, enabling rapid development of lightweight, high-strength, and reliable materials. The system integrates historical experimental data, multi-scale simulation results, and material property datasets to train machine learning model such as neural networks that can predict mechanical, thermal, and fatigue performance of candidate composite configurations. The AI engine generates multiple design alternatives by varying fiber orientation, layer sequencing, material selection, and laminate thickness, and evaluates each design against performance metrics, weight optimization, manufacturability, and aerospace standards. An iterative optimization loop refines designs based on multi-objective criteria and uncertainty factors, providing engineers with high-performance, validated material configurations. By automating design exploration and performance prediction, the invention significantly reduces development time, lowers prototyping costs, and accelerates the integration of advanced composite materials in aerospace structures, supporting safer, more fuel-efficient, and high-performance aircraft."
