MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641024765 A) filed by Sr University, Warangal, Telangana, on March 2, for 'ai-enabled risk assessment framework for sustainable banking and esg-driven credit scoring.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. S. Nagaraju; and Dr. Gurunadham Goli.
The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses an AI-enabled risk assessment framework for sustainable banking and ESG-driven credit scoring. The framework integrates traditional financial risk evaluation with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance indicators to generate a sustainability-adjusted credit score. The system comprises a data acquisition module configured to collect structured and unstructured financial and ESG-related data from multiple sources, a preprocessing module to normalize and validate the data, an ESG scoring engine to compute weighted ESG metrics, and a financial risk engine to evaluate conventional credit parameters. A machine learning prediction engine combines ESG scores with financial risk indicators to generate a composite creditworthiness score and probability of default. The framework further includes a regulatory compliance and explainability module to provide transparent audit trails and model interpretability. By dynamically adapting to regulatory guidelines and sustainability metrics, the invention enhances responsible lending decisions, reduces credit risk exposure, promotes green financing initiatives, and supports long-term financial stability within banking and financial institutions."
