MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641063425 A) filed by M. Kumarasamy College Of Engineering, Karur, Tamil Nadu, on May 19, for 'ai enabled intelligent firewall system.'

Inventor(s) include K. S. Karunneshan; S. Kavin; M. Kamalnath; and Dr. N. Mohanapriya.

The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses an intelligent firewall system for detecting and mitigating cyber threats in real time using advanced artificial intelligence techniques. The system comprises a data collection module configured to capture network traffic data including packet-level features, and a preprocessing module that performs normalization, encoding, sequencing, and outlier removal to prepare the data for analysis. A hybrid deep learning model integrating convolutional neural network (CNN) layers for spatial feature extraction and long short-term memory (LSTM) layers for temporal sequence analysis is employed to accurately identify cyber threats such as Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS), port scanning, and SQL injection attacks. The system further includes a classification module for multi-class threat identification and a mitigation module configured to automatically respond to detected threats by blocking, throttling, or redirecting malicious traffic. An explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) module utilizing Shapley Additive Explanations (SHAP) is incorporated to provide interpretable insights into model decisions, thereby enhancing transparency and trust."
