MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122119 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 4, 2025, for 'ai-driven smart farming system for crop recommendation and disease detection.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Malini S; Mr. Uttam Kumar; Mr. Saurav Kumar; and Ms. Harshi Jain.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides an AI-driven smart farming system comprising a crop recommendation module configured to analyze soil parameters using machine learning algorithms to generate crop recommendations tailored to specific environmental conditions, a plant disease identification module comprising a convolutional neural network configured to classify plant diseases through automated image analysis, a user interface configured to receive user inputs including soil parameter data and plant images and to display crop recommendations and disease identification results, a database system configured to store trained machine learning models and processed agricultural data, and wherein the crop recommendation module and the plant disease identification module are integrated within a unified platform. The soil parameters include nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium levels, pH, temperature, humidity, and rainfall data. The convolutional neural network is trained to classify diseases across 38 disease categories for 14 different crop types."
