MUMBAI, India, Nov. 21 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531075935 A) filed by Vaibhav Grover, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, on Aug. 8, for 'ai-driven ppe compliance system for zero-entry without safety gear in thermal power plants.'
Inventor(s) include Sunil Kumar Kunwar; Nezamuddin Khan; Ranjan Singh; Samarth Saraogi; and Priya Kumari.
The application for the patent was published on Nov. 21, under issue no. 47/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention introduces an AI-powered PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) compliance monitoring system designed to enhance safety standards in industrial environments, particularly in thermal power plants. The system integrates AI-equipped CCTV cameras with turnstile gates at plant entry points to ensure real-time verification of essential PPE-Helmet, Reflective Jacket, and Safety Shoes. Using advanced computer vision technology, the system detects whether all required PPE is properly worn before granting access. If any item is missing, entry is denied automatically. Additionally, the system is integrated with biometric access controls to restrict repeat offenders and provides real-time alerts and compliance tracking. This innovation addresses the persistent issue of manual PPE checks, social engineering exploits, and safety violations within the plant. It significantly improves worker safety, eliminates hazardous practices such as manual gas cylinder handling, and boosts workforce morale by automating and enforcing safety protocols."
