MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122942 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'ai-driven geospatial urban heat island mapping system.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Narayana Moorthi. M Shivanshu Dagar; and Aditya Agrawal.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a system for AI-driven geospatial urban heat island mapping. The system includes a data collection module (FIG. 2) configured to acquire satellite imagery of urban areas and urban feature geometries including building footprints and street segments, a preprocessing module configured to extract spectral values from the satellite imagery corresponding to the urban feature geometries, a machine learning module configured to train a predictive model using the extracted spectral values and measured albedo values to learn relationships between spectral signatures and surface reflectivity, a prediction module configured to apply the trained predictive model to new satellite imagery data to estimate albedo values for urban features, and a visualization module configured to generate spatial maps displaying the estimated albedo values."
