MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611024092 A) filed by Malaviya National Institute Of Technology, Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Feb. 28, for 'ai-driven framework for diabetic retinopathy grading and related methods.'

Inventor(s) include Priyanka Harjule; Mukesh Delu; Kushal Gajjar; and Rajesh Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This document describes a method and system for automated retinal disease grading using medical images. The approach involves receiving a retinal fundus image and processing it through a deep learning architecture to extract features and generate a disease classification output. A dual-path neural architecture is implemented, which bifurcates the analysis into two parallel processing streams. The first stream enhances retinal lesions using fractional anisotropic diffusion, while the second stream extracts vascular geometry using a fractional Hessian-based segmentation network. The extracted features are integrated and processed to produce a disease class label, which can include classifications such as Normal, Non-Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy, or Proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy."
