MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641043584 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on April 6, for 'ai-driven dynamic privacy protection system and method on smart device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. V. Sivakumar; and Harish R.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a system (100) and method (200) for providing AI-driven dynamic privacy protection on a smart device to detect visual privacy threats and selectively protect sensitive on-screen information. The system (100) comprises a presence sensing module (110) operating in a low power mode to detect nearby individuals, and a vision and gaze detection module (120) configured to capture visual input and determine gaze direction toward the device display. A multi modal risk scoring module (130) computes a dynamic privacy risk score based on gaze alignment, content sensitivity, and environmental context. A selective UI masking module (140) applies localized masking to sensitive interface regions when the risk score exceeding a predefined threshold. A privacy preserving processing module (150) ensures all data is processed locally using volatile memory without storage or transmission. A user notification module (160) generates non-intrusive alerts. The method (200) enables context-aware, adaptive, and energy-efficient privacy protection."
