MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641061591 A) filed by Mr. Bala Nivasa Vel V G; Mr. Rogith A; Mr. Guhan B; and Mrs. Mahesh Lakshmi C, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on May 14, for 'ai-based urban crime detection and real-time surveillance alert system.'

Inventor(s) include Mr. Bala Nivasa Vel V G; Mr. Rogith A; Mr. Guhan B; and Mrs. Mahesh Lakshmi C.

The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an AI-based urban crime detection and real-time surveillance alert system for proactive public safety monitoring. The system comprises surveillance cameras, a video capture module, frame extraction module, preprocessing module, AI-based image processing and classification module, temporal anomaly recognition module, alert generation module, database module, and secure dashboard module. Live CCTV streams are converted into frames and processed by resizing, normalization, noise reduction, and enhancement. A trained YOLO-based vision model classifies activities including violent, non-violent, harassment, suspicious, crowd congestion, and normal events. A temporal anomaly module using three-dimensional convolution and LSTM analysis verifies abnormal activity across consecutive frames. When a predefined risk condition is satisfied, the system generates real-time alerts with camera identity, timestamp, severity, confidence score, and event evidence. A database stores activity logs and historical incident data, while a secure dashboard displays live feeds, alerts, density overlays, and analytics for authorized personnel."
