MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641043323 A) filed by Vignan's Foundation For Science, Technology & Research, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, on April 4, for 'ai-based financial decision support system for optimized stock portfolio selection.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Sandeep Patalay; and Dr. B. Madhusudhan Rao.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A financial decision support system (DSS) has been proposed for automated stock portfolio selection, integrating machine learning, intrinsic valuation, and financial health analysis to optimize investment decisions as shown in figure-1. The system acquires historical and real-time financial data, using the historical data to train a stock price prediction model based on the M5P model tree algorithm, and current data to assess company stability and calculate intrinsic stock values across multi-phase lifecycle models. A composite financial health index is generated using rule-based scoring of key financial metrics. An inference engine integrates predicted prices, intrinsic values, and health scores to generate stock selection signals, which are then processed by a portfolio generation and optimization unit to compute allocation weights and diversification parameters. The system presents recommended portfolios via a user interface, allowing investor interaction and feedback. Validation using historical and current market data demonstrates the DSS's ability to consistently outperform market benchmarks, providing reliable, data-driven recommendations for short- and long-term investment planning."
