MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541034844 A) filed by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi, Kerala, on April 9, 2025, for 'ai-assisted endoscopic ultrasound system and method for pancreatic abnormality detection.'
Inventor(s) include Gressel, Gilad; Nair, Priya; Ramesh, Abhijit; P, Gautham Krishnan; and Swain, Anshuman.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to an AI-assisted endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) system (100) and a method (400) for real-time analysis of a live endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) video feed. The system (100) includes an EUS device (110), one or more user interfaces (112), and a computing unit (102) including one or more processors (104), a memory (106), and a hardware accelerator (108). The computing unit (102) executes an ensemble of deep learning models including a convolutional neural network model, a transformer model, or a combination thereof to identify pancreatic stations, detect pancreatic abnormalities, segment a pancreas and one or more tumours, and optionally extract features from Doppler images. An uncertainty score is calculated and filtered using a calibrated threshold to determine high-confidence predictions. The high-confidence predictions are superimposed on the live EUS video feed, and real-time annotation updates the ensemble in a continuous learning framework."
