MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641020992 A) filed by Vel Tech Multi Tech Dr. Rangarajan Dr. Sakunthala Engineering College; Dr. R. Thiagarajan; A. Mohammed Afthab; A. Dharanidharan; S. Sanjay; and R. Venkateswara, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 23, for 'agrosmart-crop disease detection and human health protection system.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. R. Thiagarajan; A. Mohammed Afthab; A. Dharanidharan; S. Sanjay; and R. Venkateswara.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The increasing demand for higher agricultural productivity and early disease management has created a need for intelligent crop monitoring systems. This invention presents an Al-based Smart Agriculture System leveraging Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN), image preprocessing techniques, and cloud-based communication for real-time crop disease detection and farmer assistance. Farmers capture crop leaf images using a mobile application, and instead of relying on manual inspection, the images are analyzed automatically through a trained deep learning model deployed on a backend server. The system applies preprocessing methods such as resizing, normalization, and noise filtering to improve classification accuracy under varying field conditions. The CNN model accurately detects plant diseases and differentiates between healthy and infected crops. To ensure fast and efficient operation, only essential prediction results are transmitted back to the user through REST APIs, reducing data overhead and improving response time. The system provides fertilizer and treatment recommendations through an Al-powered support mechanism. Additionally, a digital marketplace module enables farmers to sell verified healthy produce directly to consumers via a secure cloud platform. By combining Al-driven disease detection, real-time mobile deployment, and integrated marketplace access, the invention enhances crop health management, improves farmer income, and supports sustainable agricultural practices."
