MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122833 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'agricultural crop allocation system using data-driven demand-supply matching.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Yokesh Babu Sundaresan; and Lehaswini Palla.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a computer-implemented method (100) for agricultural crop allocation. The method (100) collects farmer data including land size, soil type, and past crop expertise from a plurality of farmers within a geographic region in a step (102). The method (100) collects consumer demand data specifying consumption requirements for a plurality of crops from consumers within the geographic region in a step (104). The method (100) loads agricultural datasets including soil-crop suitability data in a step (106). The method (100) processes the farmer data and consumer demand data using allocation algorithms that match soil compatibility with crop requirements and prioritize farmers based on past crop expertise in a step (110). The method (100) generates crop allocation results that assign specific crops to individual farmers based on the soil compatibility matching and expertise prioritization in a step (114)."
